On Sunday Ed and I worked on "Be Somewhere This Christmas". I added a guitar solo (eight guitars all playing the same line) and then we edited the vocal takes from the previous week. This is coming along nicely.
I keep listening to the Ted Stupple session. Despie the rough edges I find something 'real' in his voice. Ted was around 65 when he came into the studio in 1985. There was little rehearsal - each song was recorded in one or two takes and all 11 were mixed and mastered within 4 hours. At a time when some folks would spend all day in the studio trying to nail a single chorus, Ted showed how it should be done. Here's a medley of three songs, "The Way We Were", I Hadn't Anyone Till You" and "Everytime We Say Goodbye" - medley.mp3 - 7,884 KB
Once again I'm indebted to Robin Frederick for turning me on to excellent music :) this time it's the guitar playing of Johannes Linstead
